HASTINGS
FARM is a livestock and crop production operation
proposed by
Samson Abraham an Electronics Engineer turned farmer who is our Managing
Director.
It is hoped that the introduction of Contract Farming and Micro-Credit
scheme in both sectors will encourage the community to live a purposeful, productive and envisage a quality life style. We
are seeking investors and partners to help spearhead our projects also in the Commercial Hatchery and Feed-Mill areas.
The Poultry sector is on cue for full operation in early October. We are starting with Hybrid-Brown egg layers and Muscovy
Ducks adding Broilers later.
The Giant African Land Snails (GALS) will be introduced also in September on a large scale along with trials on Mushroom production
especially the Oyster Species. The spawn will be prepared on the farm and the substrates will be Brewery spent grains, Banana
leaves and rice or elephant grass straws. Watch this space for more info...
The European Grape growing project on the farm is proving a success. The prunned batch of Muscat
of Alexandria and Black Hamburg in February 2005 have fruited successfully with three average bunches on each vine. The Tower

Our free seed distribution excercise to the local populace
of Hastings is also proving to be successful. The percentage germination of our donated seeds is relatively high in the region
of 78-90%. Tucker seeds have again donated free seeds and we are also pleased to add Chiltern Seeds, D.T.Brown Seeds, Thompson
